Rain and Fruitful Seasons

Nevertheless, He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness” (Acts 14:17).

Food and gladness seem to go together (e.g. Acts 14:17; Psalm 104:14-15; Ecclesiastes 3:12-13; Joel 1:16). This is especially true when eating in good company with love present (Proverbs 15:17; 17:1).

Let us remember that it is God who sustains this earth and gives us the food that we eat. “He makes the sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust” (Matthew 5:45). It is He “Who gives us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17). Let us remember to thank Him (1 Timothy 4:4).
